The coming thugocracy
If you have not read Michael Barone’s “The Coming Obama Thugocracy”, do. He runs through the threats to free speech coming from the Obama camp, from harrassing radio stations to threatening criminal prosecutions. It is going to be a very nasty four years with Obama. But it helps understand the appeal of Obama in Europe, where free speech is frowned upon as a threat to the elites. The problem with free speech in America for those elites is that news can get through other sources. The Irish government can regulate RTE into irrelevance, but there is a problem if people can get other news sources through satelite. I can see why they like Obama, alright.
