Michael Meacher, a British MP, complains in the Guardian that there is no accountability in the British government. I am not up on the bulk of his examples, so I will not comment. Meacher's history, however, suggests that he out not to be believed. Meacher wrote a piece in the Guardian suggesting that the U.S. government deliberately allowed the 9-11 attacks to proceed, filled with wildinaccuracies (whether Meacher was lying or simply deranged is a matter for him). Then again, in spite of this behavior, he is still a British MP and still writes tripe for the Guardian. No consequences for him, so maybe he is on to something about lack of accountability.
