The Washington Post has a piece in its On Faith section by someone named Starhawk (seriously), on why she is not welcome in Israel. At paragraph nine, the reason creeps out.
The reason I was given was that my past work with the International Solidarity Movement, a group that supports Palestinian nonviolence. The ISM brings internationals to support demonstrations and civil resistance, for their presence adds a slim margin of safety that makes this method of protest possible. Founded by Palestinians, Israelis and Americans, it is one of many groups that has helped nurture a nonviolent movement that daily grows stronger in spite of its near invisibility in the media and on the international scene.
And the KKK is a group of dispassionate scholars with doubts about affirmative action. The ISM's track record of protecting and promoting terrorists is pretty well known, and the Post should be ashamed of passing off Starhawk's lies.Posted by sjostrom on April 02, 2008 08:36 AM

Starhawk (Miriam Somos) is a woman who wrote an unreadable book (The Spiral Dance) and got it published at just the right time to make herself a star in the pagan religious world. She's been living off her reputation ever since.
If there's a protest against anything western, she'll be there, with her fellow "Reclaiming" collective members acting as press agents for her. And she'll always be amazed that hanging around with violent anarchists and terrorists makes her a target for authorities.
It's not so different from Gerry Adams and the IRA. "Who, me? No, I'm not violent at all! I'm strictly political!"

And she'll always, always be shocked! that hanging around with violent anarchists and terrorists makes her a target for authorities. All of it delivered, of course, in a sad, remonstrative sighing voice.
