The Wall Street titans have turned into a bunch of welfare clients. They are desperate to be bailed out by government from their own incompetence, and from the deregulatory regime for which they lobbied so hard.
Hmmm. Which titans are these? Does he mean the steel executives who lobbied for import restrictions? Does he mean the Wall Street bankers who backed Rudy Giuliani's attack on Michael Milken when he messed with their cosy arrangements? Does he mean the airline executives who backed industry regulation for decades until they made no money off it, and then got Teddy Kennedy to push deregulation? Does he mean Warren Buffett, who pleads for the inheritance tax without mentioning how much his heirs will pay?
No surprise at all, really, that Dionne names no names. He just claims he has a list of names.
