AtlanticBlog goes on television
Just back from Dublin, after a strange evening last night appearing on the RTE public affairs show, Questions and Answers. The show was on Iraq, and the video is here. (My thanks to Henry Farrell for showing me where to get the link.) My fellow panelists were John O’Donoghue, a member of the Irish cabinet, John Bruton, a former prime minister who belongs to Fine Gael, currently out of power, Sheila O’Flanagan, a modestly left-wing writer, and Maura Quinn from UNICEF. I can’t promise it is interesting, but it reflects elite opinion in Ireland. You get to see a former prime minister spout pseudo-sentimental mush, and actually cite not merely Hans Blix, but Scott Ritter as well. You also get to see several Iraqis in the audience playing Saddam apologists. The moderator never bothers to ask whether they belong to the Ba’th Party. They certainly aren’t Kurds.
If you watch, you get to watch me make a fool of myself. One big mistake. I was mistakenly identified as being part of the economics department. I am not. I work for a separate teaching center.
