The Guardian publishes a not too coherent rambling discourse on women in Arab countries by Ahdaf Souei, who is identified as an Egyptian novelist. The gist of it seems to be that the Arab world was turning into a feminist paradise, but that ended, and it appears to be the fault of the Americans and the Israelis.
