The Irish Examiner reports that all the opposition parties are attacking the government over the granting of permission to the US military to use Shannon Airport as a refueling site. I find this curious. The Labour Party and of course the Greens and Sinn Fein are virulently anti-American, but Fine Gael is not. Is this just political boilerplate, or is Fine Gael afraid of the war's outcome? In other words, are they afraid that a war will reveal large scale complicity with Saddam by their members?
