Just politics as usual?
The Irish Examiner reports that all the opposition parties are attacking the government over the granting of permission to the US military to use Shannon Airport as a refueling site. I find this curious. The Labour Party and of course the Greens and Sinn Fein are virulently anti-American, but Fine Gael is not. Is this just political boilerplate, or is Fine Gael afraid of the war’s outcome? In other words, are they afraid that a war will reveal large scale complicity with Saddam by their members?
